Dracula-- Le NOUVEAU comedie musicale de KAMEL OUALI

Well, well!!! I'm SOOOO excited because I am just HOOKED on musicals-- or 'comedies musicales' as they are called in French! This new one, "Dracula," is Kamel Ouali's latest and premiers on Sept 30th and than starts touring in France and Belgium in February of 2012.

I went to PDS to see my Mozartienne friends who are all now new fans of Dracula... It's really cool- like a comradery we all have for one another because of the shows...

Anyhow.. I took a lot of pics and here are a few of me with the principal actors.... Some of the ones of 'me' came out really bad, so hopefully... I get to retake them on another occasion...

Cute houses in our neighbourhood....

Isn't this one cute?!!

As we were on one of our walks through the neighbourhood, we came able this adorable house. It reminded me of a cute cottage-style house so I snapped some pictures to share with you all...

Here are some other houses...

Steve Jobs
After the Resignation

0826_steve_jobs_02PCNThis picture of Steve Jobs was taken today -- two days after he resigned as the head honcho of Apple.

In his resignation letter, Jobs said, the day finally came when he could no longer perform his duties.

Photo and text: Taken from

I have been a loyal Mac user since my first Apple computer back in 1996, but I have been using Mac computers as early as 1990/91 at school for teaching. It breaks my heart to know that this AMAZNINGLY creative and innovative man is slipping away from us. Steve Jobs has changed the face of the earth with his technology and with advances he has made over the years with Apple computers and other products.. God bless you Steve, and thank you- for all the you have given us and all that you have done... The world will be at a great loss when you have gone but you name and legacy will carry on indefinitely.

Progress update: Health post-op!

Hi Everyone!

Today I am exactly 3 weeks POST OP! YAY! I have to say that well... I didn't really expect to be doing this well sooo soon after such a big surgery! I had friends who gave me a good idea of things to expect, and some happened ... some not. Everyone is different, that's for sure!

But, one thing for sure.. that I did NOT expect was that by about my 4 day out of surgery- my energy level was SOARING and I was feeling full of life and feeling good- though my body had an amount of discomfort- I wasn't in any great pain. Thank God!

After leaving the hospital and going home on day the 5th morning after my surgery- I walked for about an hour around town and was pretty tired.. That was on a Tuesday the 9th of Aug. All that week up until now.. I have been walking from 2-3 hours per day- (twice a day, not all at once, mind you)... and I've been feeling fantastic.. Well, admittedly.. I have a high tolerance for pain, but because I only had discomfort- it made everything all very bearable!!

I have only been walking- no exercise other than my own two feet.. and no transportation- not even to ride in a car.. My surgeon says I can do that at the end of August.. Sooo excited!!

I've been keeping SUPER busy, at any rate and didn't really how fast everything is going by until yesterday.. Haven't had a moment of boredom (except in the hospital, of course--- many moments there) and I've been keeping myself busy here in town and seeing friends and making new ones!!!

Rainbow cupcakes...

Made these a few days ago... They were really pretty.....

Broyé du Poitou Recipe in English -- DELISH French butter cookies

This recipe is VERY simple and they turn out wonderfully so I recommend it to everyone!

1 cup/250g white sugar

2 cups/500 g of all-purpose flour

1 cup (2 sticks)/250g of butter-softened

1 egg

+ 1 egg yolk for the egg wash

In a large bowl, add sugar and flour together and use a whisk to blend together... Add the egg and stir with a wooden spoon to incorporate into the dry mix... add the butter last and and mix together with your hands, without "working the dough too much. The dough will be firm yet soft so you can put it in the refrigerator to chill it so it will be more idea for shaping with cookie cutters.

Shape into round cookies with the cookie cutters of about 1 cm/1'4 inch in thickness and then gently brush the tops with the egg yolk... you can make "stripes" with a fork on the top... and finally sprinkles (if you like)) toasted slivered almonds. Place on a cookie sheet (lined with baking paper).

Place in the oven for about 25 minutes at 190 °/375F- Keep an eye on them to make sure they don't brown or burn! (they should be a nice golden brown colour.. and they become very hard/crunchy- but this is how they are supposed to be!!

**My oven is a bit different so I baked them at a slightly lower temp (350F) but baked them longer and kept an eye out to make sure they didn't overcook. A DELISH-LY rich and buttery cookie!! YUM!!!!

I hope you like them and please DO let me know if you make them and how they turn out for you!!!
