Berthillon's - ICE CREAM in Paris

This ice cream store is renowned for its delicious ice cream and unique flavours. I've not yet tasted it, but I'm sure it's wonderful!

What a great class field trip!!!!

Difference between Berthillion and less famous ice creams?

Berthillion is famous and tourists love to wait in line for it. That's pretty much it.

Hey D...

Thanks for the info.. Now, if you can please tell me... WHY is Berthillion so famous and is it really good??

Take care and have a great week!

Berthillion is famous because it's famous and it's listed in every tourist guide in the world and the usual things... One thing gets famous for some reason, then it gets listed and then more people go, and then it gets more listed because a lot of people go, and then more people go because it's more listed, and so on...

Go next to a line at any Berthillion store and count the French people in it (if any)...

It's once again the syndrome of tourists not wanting to really discover the city but just get a confirmation of their already preconceived ideas of the city (along the lines of seeing the Eiffel Tower to make sure it's like on the pictures and rushing to go see Mona Lisa -yes people, it's smaller than you expected- in the Louvre, not caring about the more interesting but less famous paintings on the way, etc, etc...

As the certified Ice Cream Expert from the University of Ice Cream Lovers, let me weigh in.

Berthillon is delicious! I think it is definitely worth the splurge. The ice creams all taste "real," not artificial like some others can. The sorbets are nice and fresh and the ice creams are very creamy. I had a caramel ginger ice cream there once that was out of this world!

Personally I prefer the other gelato place on Rue Saint Andre des Arts to Amorino. Their gelato is creamier and much more reasonably priced. The flower thing is cool but not worth 5+ euros for a small!

I've had it before and I wasn't that impressed. Maybe I ordered the wrong flavor. Plus, it was really expensive for just a tiny bit.

David-- I see what you mean!! Well, I guess that the "word of mouth" reputation worked in their favour, then.. Not like my fav. place - le loir dans le.... because that place IS really good.. and it's very popular!!

Hi Cheryl -- Well, it's cold here in France so I don't really have the desire to eat ice cream when it's so cold!

Mira--- I'll stick to Z&Z!!! That was A LOT for just a LITTLE!!! YUMM!!!!

Hi Philip! I like ice cream, too.. but I think I will make my own!! Have a great week!

Linda... OR, maybe it's just not very good.. as others suggest!! Thanks for stopping by!!!
