Marseille sous la neige! Jan 7, 2009

Not only does it NOT snow very often in the Paris region, but more rarely does it snow in the south of France, which is known for it's hot weather, nice beaches, and palm trees. So, imagine the surprise of the southerners in Marseille when they got an overload of snow in their region!!! It closed down the auto routes for more than 24 hours, and people had to stay put in their cars overnight with the temperature below freezing outside! Meanwhile, those NOT trapped in their cars managed to find typical winter (snow) activities like building snowmen on the beach and going snowboarding on the hills. Crazy!!

Yes it is going to rain tomorrow, it is already warming up a bit and turning to yucky slush! It was fun whie it lasted though! What is even crazier is the snow they had in Vegas a bit ago, I have a friend there and her three boys went nuts enjoying the snow, it never snows there either!

Ok...that's it...I'm moving to the South of France immediately!

However, I DO know what a shocking surprise that must have been for them, because many years ago when I lived in Florida, it actually SNOWED and the temperatures dropped so LOW, that many people were loosing their electricity because of so much power being used at one time for the heat!!

Thanks for sharing these photos Leesa!

I love the one of the marina.

Ron--- I'd LOVEEEEEE to move to the south of France... for the palm trees and warm weather, though... not the snow part!!! When it snowed in Vegas a few weeks ago... I thought it was VERY bizarre... Yeh... to see snow on the beaches that are usually 90 degrees in the summer time is really weird!!
Nice to see you here... It's always a please to read your comments, Ron!

Carly- If you are able to get some good pics of around town... You should let Philip know.. he would love to post them on his blog... TRAVELING... it's on my BLOG UPDATE roll on the right side of my blog...
