Arrribbbbbaa!! MeXiCaN Lunch!!

Living in France ... not in San Diego, Ca... we don't have easy access to Mexican food! Well, not the kind us So. Cali's are used to, at least!  Since, Alex is half Mexican, he does REALLY love and appreciate the Mexican cuisine we know and love- to eat!!  Thank goodness my step mom is from Costa Rica and stocked up on lots of refriend beans (packaged in a plastic sachet rather than the canned type- made by Lizano-- so seasoned with their famous sauce... YUMM!!
Alex is Mr. Guacamole, so he whipped some up in a matter of minutes... YUMMMMMMM!!! Needless to say, we had a DELISH lunch today!!!!

The last time I ate Mexican, I had the runs for days afterward.

Hi Leesa,
I just read your post about your dear Mom. How lovely... I was thinking of you on the 29th and meant to post a little note to you then...better late than never. The picture of you and your Mom is beautiful! She was stunningly gorgeous! I hope you had some time to think of her over the last few days...and reminisce about all the amazing things you used to do together, right down to the sweet sound of her voice. You are in my thoughts...

yummy. Our mexican fiesta on Saturday turned out great...couldn't find black beans anywhere, so we went without. Had homemade guacamole, salsa, nachos and fajitas. Thanks for all the tips and advice.

Sorry to hear that... MY hubby often has the same reaction when he uses a lot of tabasco or hot sauce...
I'm okay with beans and hot stuff!!!

Jennilyn...

Thanks so much for your b-day wishes and kind note about my mom... Yes, I did indeed thing about my mom and all the good times we shared... Most of all, I am grateful to my mom for teaching me and for raising me into who I am today.. for always being there for me and for being such a huge inspiration and shining light in my life... You are very sweet to keep me in your thoughts... It's hard a lot of the time to be without my mom... She was such a positivt force in my life....

Your meal looks sooo delicious. The closest I've gotten to Mexican food here are the Burritos that I found at Intermarché.

Sounds and looks delish! My French hubby still isn't used to Mexican food even after almost 3 year in SoCal! Oh well, I hope our children will have tougher tummies to enjoy this delicious cuisine!

Hi Terence...

I am sure you don't have wide access to it where you are... just like I have very "limited" access here in France, and even that fact that I do... doesn't mean that it's really any good.. That's why I like to cook it at home.....At least I love my own cooking!!!

Barbara-- I don't know how much Mexican food you had growing up in Hawaii.. but you know how accessible it is in So. Cal! I think the Mexican food we're used in San Diego... probably isn't even really considered "Mexican food" but American-Mexican food-- it's still DELISH.. even so.. I just LOVE me my Rubio's fish taco with their special white sauce... I'll have to try it here one day... Our meal was pretty darn DELISH, if I do say so myself....

Hi Katie... WOWWWW!!! I'm surprised you found burritos, at all here... Tell me.. was it frozen? Was it with refriend beans? Please let me know as I will RUNNNNNN all the way there to pick some up.... I do like to make my own, however!!

Kelly... Funny you say that... but it does scare a lot of foreigners off who aren't used to the cuisine. Frankly, I am NOTTTTT a fan of Tex-Mex style cusine.. not all of it, at least... some--- okay...
But, being that my hubby is part Mexican... it's probably in his genes to like it.... Plus, all the great Mexican food we ate in San Diego... YUMMMMM!!!!!

Those look like "black beans", are they? Mexican beans are usually "pintos"...
