Mt. Saint Michel

Two great shots I borrowed off the internet... I didn't take either one, but liked the effect of the water around the castle and also the one with the sheep grazing in the foreground.

Fig sugar cookies...

I am BAKING right now for the BIG two day BLOOM event at the American Church of Paris. This event is aimed at helping newcomers "HOW TO LIVE IN FRANCE." I am volunteering at the table with all the French household products and I will answer questions that people have in regards to finding the product that is equivalent to what they used back home (America, Australia, England, Maylasia, etc.) I am super excited!! I am baking fig sugar cookies with the fresh figs we picked up today at our marche' for this purpose... I am also going to make chocolate chip scones with the mini tollhouse morsels my brother just brought for me from the U.S. Oh boy!! I can't wait 'til tomorrow... Of course, I will take some pictures and post them...

Sonia and the family...

The family in Cheverny...

Our lovely meal at the bed and breakfast in Cheverny

Dessert was a SCRUMPTIOUS profitiroles with chocolate syrup and vanilla ice cream.
I don't have the main course in the pictures... but here's the platter of cheese.
La soupe de petit potiron
Our trip to the Loire was LOVELY!! We stayed at Sonia and Thierry's Chambre d'Hotes in Cheverny... It's called the La Levraudière: It's only 43 euros a person and 53 euros for 2 people, breakfast is included. A delicious home cooked meal is only an extra 22 euros a person. Well worth the money! Here's a sample of her cooking! YUMMMMMMM!!!!

Taking a morning walk in Cheverny

Pretty as a painting... Cheverny

I took this as the sun was coming up so the lighting is really good... Looks so DREAMY! I touched it up of course!!

My hedgie experience!

I FINALLY spotted a LIVING hedgehog here in France!! I have only seen ones that have been hit and smushed on the road! I used to have one as a pet for almost 5 years and they are among my FAVORITE critters!! So, I was super excited to see one at night scurrying across the grass area in our apartment complex. It was around 11 pm and I caught a glimpse of him making a beeline... I ran over to him and he stopped dead in his tracks... With a shirt I had in my hands... I picked him up and called my hubby over to take a look.. I didn't get a photo but he was a pretty good size compared to the one I had... about twice the size.. My hedgie was an African pymgy and maybe the European species are a bit larger... Anyhow... it was VERY exciting!!! Below are two pictures I pulled off the net... One of a European hedgehog and one is an armadillo from Texas..

Fig Sugar Cookies

Found this recipe and picture on the net... I am going to make some today!

Fig Sugar Cookies
(Makes about 4 dozen)

1 cup chopped figs (about 1/2 lb)
1/3 cup water
1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

1. Cook figs with water, stirring frequently, until thickened (about 5 minutes). Set aside to cool.

2. Beat butter with sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Blend well. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix into the creamed mixture. Stir in the cooled figs. Drop by teaspoons onto lightly greased cookie sheets.

3. Bake 375 degrees F. for 10 to 12 minutes, until lightly browned. Remove cookies and cool on wire racks.

The GREENS go to the BIG GAME!!

Good luck GREENS!!! To all the nice people who let me take their picture today! This bud's for you!!!!

Red, White and Blue!

In contrast to all the GREEN I saw today in Paris.... these were the only two
true-blue, RED , WHITE and BLUE that I saw ... These two men were just
ADORABLE!!! Very sweet and didn't mind at all posing for a picture! France
was very victorious tonight- 23-3 !!!! Alex explained to me that the French supporteurs were most likely at home before the game, and just got ready at home and then hopped on the metro in their garb.

More GREEN!!!

Pretty Irish lasses enjoying some beer before the big game!

Me and the boys!

My brother and sister-in-law just arrived today! We visited Paris and were impressed with the amount of GREEN we saw everywhere... especially in the Irish pubs!! Lots of Irish lads and lasses in town today for the big RUGY MATCH (World Cup) between Ireland and France! We saw lots of green everywhere and not that much RED, WHITE and BLUE... Alex explained that the Irish landed this a.m. in Paris and were out on the town while the French were still at home preparing for the big game tonight at the Stade de France at St. Denis.
Needless to say, I met looks of fine Irish folk... very warm and friendly people, and happy to allow me to snap their photo for my blog! Thanks ALL!! You guys are the best! Good luck tonight with the game!! YAHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
