What TREE is this?

If anyone knows, please tell me. I am having trouble identifying native French trees and can't seem to figure out what the heck tree this is...

FYI: I just found this out today.....These are CHESTNUT TREES.. not the chestnuts you can eat.. but marrouns. So, this is a marrounier... The trees with the nuts you can eat come from the chataignier.... They also make confiture de chataigne.. it is like a spread, very sweet and delish!
